The Cottage in the Wood Country House Hotel and Restaurant is situated in an idyllic Lake District location overlooking Skiddaw within the forest of Whinlatter. Keswick and Derwentwater are only 4 miles East and Cockermouth is 12 miles North.

From the M6 motorway: Turn off at Junction 40 Penrith and head West along the A66 to Keswick. Go past all the turnings for Keswick and *after 1.5 miles you begin sweeping round a gradual right bend and will see signs for Braithwaite. Turn into Braithwaite and continue through the village, past the Royal Oak, towards Whinlatter and Lorton (B5292). You will drive through the forest towards the summit of Whinlatter and after 2 miles (and a mile before the summit) The Cottage in the Wood is situated on the right, before the Whinlatter Forest Park.

From the South Lakes: Go through Keswick and head for the A66 and Cockermouth. When on the A66 follow the instructions above marked with an asterix(*).
